Safeguarding Commitment Statement 

WFC is committed to: 

  1. The safety and wellbeing of all children participating in our sport and accessing our services;  

  2. Supporting the rights of children and taking all necessary steps to ensure that a safe environment is maintained;  

  3. Ensuring policies and procedures are accessible in forms that are easy to understand; have been informed by stakeholder consultation; and are communicated to children, their families and the wider football community;

  4. Providing education to children about self-protection and empowerment, ensuring information and resources are accessible, and encouraging an environment that empowers children to raise any concern for their safety and happiness;  

  5. Supporting the rights and wellbeing of all our volunteers;  

  6. Encouraging the active participation of everyone involved in the club in building and maintaining a safe environment for all Members; 

  7. Implementing screening practices for all appointments of volunteers in our club that support safeguarding of children; 

  8. Supporting the continued education and training for all people involved in our club to ensure that safeguarding information is provided on an ongoing basis. This includes providing ongoing education and awareness training for all volunteers involved to ensure they:    

  • are made aware of the signs and indicators of abuse;  

  • understand their responsibilities and duty in the protection of children from harm; and  

  • are instilled with the confidence to know where and how to report if they have a reasonable concern regarding the safety and wellbeing of a child.  

    9. Reporting all forms of abuse within our club and working to ensure that all reports are dealt with in accordance with this policy and any associated procedures or guidelines; 

    10. Maintaining and improving safeguarding and member protection policies, procedures and practices annually as part of the ongoing compliance with safeguarding requirements, although reviews and alterations may occur more frequently due to legislative changes, organisational changes and incident outcomes; and  

    11. Encourage children to provide feedback and have input into policies, systems and processes that relate to their safety, welfare and participation in our club.
